Trainee Paraplanner
Location: Enderby, Leicester (office-based, hybrid working after initial training) Salary: £33,000 – £35,000 + discretionary bonus
The opportunity
This is a genuine development role with one of the Midlands' most respected wealth management firms — a Chartered business managing over £1.1bn for high-net-worth clients, and a four-time winner of Professional Adviser's "Best Financial Advisers to Work For" award.
You'll join a well-resourced paraplanning team, reporting to the Head of Paraplanning, and take ownership of advice cases from the point of new client engagement right through to handover. It's the ideal step for someone with strong financial services administration experience who has completed (or is close to completing) their Level 4 Diploma and wants a structured route into paraplanning — with real career progression beyond it, including the potential for future equity ownership.
What you'll be doing
- Owning new advice cases end to end, working closely with Financial Planners, Client Managers and the wider team
- Preparing initial meeting packs — letters of authority, fact finds, risk profiling and client agreements
- Acting as a key point of contact for clients through the initial advice process
- Investigating and recording details of existing arrangements, chasing providers and keeping planners and clients updated
- Obtaining illustrations for pensions, investments and annuities
- Preparing FCA-compliant suitability reports and cash flow reports that clients can actually understand
- Completing thorough handovers to the Client Management team once advice is agreed
You'll work with systems including Intelliflo, Virtual Cabinet and Moneyinfo, with full training provided.
What we're looking for
- Level 4 CII Diploma in Financial Planning (or equivalent experience)
- A minimum of 2 years' experience in a financial services administration role
- Sound knowledge of pension, investment and protection products
- Awareness of FCA conduct rules, AML and data protection requirements
- Excellent written and verbal communication, accuracy and time management
A finance, economics or business degree and experience with Intelliflo or similar back-office systems would be an advantage, but neither is essential.
What's on offer
- £33,000 – £35,000 depending on qualifications and experience
- Discretionary bonus
- 5% employer pension contribution, rising with service, with salary sacrifice available
- 4x salary life assurance
- 24 days' holiday plus bank holidays, rising with service
- Health cash plan and free parking
- Hybrid working once initial training is complete
- Full support for professional qualifications, in a firm that promotes from within
