Career path: Clear progression route to IFA with an inherited client pipeline

We are working with a growing, independently owned financial planning firm based in Surrey to recruit a Paraplanner or Technical Paraplanner on a permanent basis. This is an urgent requirement — the firm has a high and increasing workload and needs an experienced, self-sufficient paraplanner who can integrate quickly and hit the ground running.

The firm provides comprehensive independent financial advice to a well-established private client base and is led by an experienced MD with decades of industry knowledge. This is a hands-on, high-output role working directly alongside the MD — not a back-office support function. You will be supporting client meetings and annual reviews, and providing technical guidance to the wider administration team.

For the right individual, this role offers something rare: the MD is planning to reduce his hours over the medium term and is actively building a succession pipeline. The person who earns his trust will inherit hundreds of clients and transition into a fully independent IFA role managing their own book. That is not a vague aspiration — it is a planned, structural outcome of joining this business at this stage.

Salary up to£75,000 for Chartered / highly experienced candidates

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING

  • Producing comprehensive suitability reports
  • Preparing for client meetings and annual reviews — gathering performance figures, analysing portfolio performance, and running reports through FE Analytics
  • Summarising complex technical information clearly and concisely for client-facing documents — without losing accuracy or compliance integrity
  • Conducting technical research and provider comparisons across the firm's platform and product range
  • Providing technical support and guidance to the financial administration team (two administrators)
  • Supporting SIPP onboarding cases as required

WHAT YOU WILL NEED

  • Paraplanning experience in an IFA or independent financial planning environment
  • Strong technical knowledge of pensions, investments, and associated financial planning structures — able to work independently without step-by-step direction
  • Proficiency with FE Analytics for report generation
