Paraplanner

Liverpool | Hybrid working | £40,000–£45,000

We are recruiting on behalf of an established independent financial planning firm seeking an experienced Paraplanner to join its Liverpool team.

This is an excellent opportunity for a technically capable paraplanner who wants to work on varied and often complex planning cases while benefiting from hybrid working and a genuine nine-day fortnight—with an additional paid day off every two weeks.

The role

Working closely with the firm’s financial advisers, you will provide high-quality technical support across pensions, investments, protection, bonds, trusts and inheritance tax planning.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Preparing clear, accurate suitability reports and financial planning recommendations

  • Conducting technical research and comparing suitable products and solutions

  • Supporting complex pension, investment and inheritance tax planning cases

  • Reviewing client objectives and ensuring recommendations are appropriate

  • Maintaining complete and accurate client files

  • Ensuring all work meets FCA regulations, Consumer Duty requirements and internal compliance standards

  • Communicating effectively with advisers to progress cases efficiently

  • Supporting the wider team in delivering a consistently high standard of client service

What we’re looking for

  • At least three years’ paraplanning experience within a UK IFA or financial planning firm

  • Level 4 Diploma in Regulated Financial Planning, or an equivalent qualification

  • Applications may also be considered from experienced candidates who are close to achieving Level 4

  • Broad technical knowledge across pensions, investments, protection, bonds and trusts

  • A strong understanding of inheritance tax planning

  • Experience with AIM portfolios, Business Relief solutions or other complex IHT planning would be advantageous

  • Sound knowledge of FCA regulations and Consumer Duty

  • Strong written communication and report-writing skills

  • Excellent attention to detail and the ability to manage competing deadlines

  • Confidence using financial planning software and Microsoft Office

Salary and benefits

  • Salary of £40,000–£45,000

  • Hybrid working

  • Nine-day working fortnight, providing one additional paid day off every two weeks without increasing daily hours or affecting salary or holiday entitlement

  • 25 days’ annual leave

  • Birthday off

  • Bank holidays

  • Additional paid leave during the Christmas shutdown

  • Discretionary performance bonus

  • 5% employer pension contribution through salary sacrifice

  • Employer National Insurance savings paid into your pension

  • Death-in-service cover worth 10 times your basic salary

  • Private medical insurance

  • Health cash plan covering dental, optical and additional healthcare costs

  • Employee discount and benefits programmes

  • Financial support and study leave for further professional qualifications

  • Employee referral bonus scheme

This position would suit an experienced paraplanner looking for technical variety, strong benefits and a working pattern that offers considerably more time away from work without sacrificing salary or annual leave.
