Chartered Paraplanner / Senior Technical Consultant - Trusts, IHT & Pensions
Location: London (hybrid, two days a week in the office)
Salary: £65,000 - £70,000 + 10% bonus + full benefits
Job type: Permanent, full time (37.5 hours, Monday to Friday), hybrid 2 days a week in the London office
Be the technical partner a Senior Adviser relies on
Most paraplanning roles keep you behind a desk, writing up meetings you never attended. This one puts you in the room.
Our client, an independent, fiancial planner, who is looking for a chartered (or close to chartered) Paraplanner to work one-to-one with a Senior Adviser in London. You will sit alongside them in client meetings, own the technical thinking behind the advice, and see your work land with clients who value it.
The adviser is happy to hand over the technical heavy lifting. They want a self-starter who can pick up a live caseload and run with it.
The role
- Work directly with a Senior Adviser as their technical partner, preparing for and attending client meetings two days a week in the London office
- Take detailed meeting notes and follow up every technical point afterwards
- Lead the technical analysis on Trusts, Inheritance Tax, Pensions and investments for high net worth clients
- Build lifetime cashflow models (Voyant) and turn them into clear, joined-up financial plans covering legacy and succession, contingency, tax and asset allocation
- Write comprehensive suitability letters that clients can actually follow
- Keep the team ahead of legislative and regulatory change
- Be supported by a Paraplanner and an Administrator, with scope to mentor and help develop your colleague as your own technical profile grows
About you
- Chartered, or close to it (Diploma qualified as a minimum, with Chartered status achieved or well within reach)
- Paraplanning experience in the independent sector, working with high net worth clients
- Strong technical knowledge across IHT, Trusts, CGT, investments, and pension
- A real belief in the value of lifetime cashflow modelling, ideally with Voyant experience
- Experience with owner-managed business clients is a bonus, as is Intelliflo
- Resilient, proactive and comfortable in a busy team, with the confidence to work largely unsupervised
- Happy to be in the London office two days a week, for client meetings
A note on where this role leads
This is a technical career role. We are looking for someone who loves the craft of complex planning and wants to build a long-term career as a senior technical specialist. If becoming an adviser is part of your longer-term thinking, we are happy to talk about that openly. It is not a route to advising in the short term, and we would rather be clear about that from the start.
What you get
- £65,000 - £70,000 salary depending on experience
- 10% bonus: half based on your own performance, half on company performance, with the company element uncapped (it has paid out above target in recent years)
- Full benefits package
- Hybrid working: two days a week in the London office
- A genuinely independent firm that gives objective advice, not product-led advice, in a market that is consolidating fast
- Real exposure to complex planning and clients, not just case preparation
