Financial Planner – Taunton Client Bank Opportunity
Taunton | Hybrid working | Salary up to circa £80,000 | Existing client revenue opportunities | Bonus above validation
This is not a conventional Financial Planner vacancy
Our client is an established national wealth management group looking to appoint an experienced Financial Planner to join its Taunton operation.
The business already has an established presence in the area, supported by the infrastructure, resources and financial strength of a major UK wealth management group.
This is a compelling opportunity for a Financial Planner who wants access to existing client relationships while retaining the autonomy to build and develop a valuable long-term client bank.
It would particularly suit an adviser who is performing well but feels restricted by limited client opportunities, inadequate support or a validation structure that makes progression unnecessarily difficult.
You will not be expected to start entirely from scratch
The business has a consistent record of making existing client revenue available to advisers through succession planning, acquisitions and changes within its existing adviser population.
The exact level and timing of transferred revenue will depend on the opportunities available when the appointment is made. However, there is a credible expectation that the successful individual will receive existing client relationships to manage and develop.
Depending on availability and the adviser’s experience, this could potentially represent approximately £100,000 to £200,000 of recurring client revenue.
The successful individual will be expected to retain and develop these relationships while continuing to grow their client bank through referrals, professional connections and opportunities generated across the wider business.
The role
You will:
-
Deliver holistic, independent financial planning across pensions, investments, retirement planning, protection and relevant tax and estate-planning considerations
-
Build trusted, long-term relationships with existing and prospective clients
-
Assume responsibility for client relationships introduced through succession, acquisition or internal transfer opportunities
-
Conduct detailed client meetings and create tailored financial plans
-
Review existing arrangements and identify opportunities to improve client outcomes
-
Develop existing relationships and generate introductions and referrals
-
Work closely with administration, compliance and paraplanning teams
-
Maintain accurate client records and consistently meet regulatory and internal standards
-
Contribute to the continued growth of the Taunton office and its regional client base
-
Develop professional connections and identify appropriate new-business opportunities
Why consider this opportunity?
For the right Financial Planner, this role offers:
-
The potential to inherit existing client revenue rather than starting with an empty client bank
-
An achievable initial validation structure that reflects any revenue transferred
-
Independent, whole-of-market financial planning
-
Access to established compliance, administration and paraplanning infrastructure
-
The opportunity to build a substantial and valuable long-term client bank
-
Hybrid working and sensible flexibility
-
Support for continued professional development and progression
-
The resources and financial backing of an established national wealth management group
-
Access to further client opportunities created through acquisitions, adviser succession and continued business growth
Salary, bonus and validation
The anticipated salary range is:
-
Level 4 Financial Planners: approximately £55,000 to £75,000, depending on experience and capability
-
Chartered Financial Planners: potentially up to approximately £80,000
-
Bonus: 25% of qualifying production above validation
Unlike firms that impose an aggressive standard validation target immediately, our client is prepared to structure an incoming adviser’s initial validation around the level of client revenue transferred.
This should provide the successful individual with a realistic platform from which to establish themselves, retain transferred relationships and grow their client bank.
Who we are looking for
You should have:
-
A Level 4 Diploma in Regulated Financial Planning, or equivalent
-
Competent Adviser Status
-
A proven track record within an IFA, financial planning or wealth management environment
-
Strong first-meeting, communication and relationship-management skills
-
The ability to retain, develop and grow valuable client relationships
-
Experience delivering holistic, client-focused financial planning
-
A sound understanding of UK financial services regulation and Consumer Duty
-
The commercial confidence to identify new opportunities and generate referrals
-
The ability to work effectively with administration, paraplanning and compliance teams
-
A professional, credible and client-led approach
Chartered status would be advantageous and may support appointment at the upper end of the salary range, but it is not essential.
Location
The role is based in Taunton and offers hybrid working, but the successful individual must be able to maintain a meaningful presence in the local office and serve clients across the surrounding region.
Financial Planners based across Somerset, Devon, Dorset, Bristol or the wider South West may also be considered where travelling to Taunton regularly would be realistic and sustainable.
About the business
Our client is an established UK wealth management group offering independent, whole-of-market financial planning.
The business combines the infrastructure, technology and regulatory support of a national organisation with a relationship-led approach to client advice.
Its continued growth, acquisition activity and adviser succession requirements create ongoing opportunities for Financial Planners to assume responsibility for existing client relationships and build substantial long-term client banks.
Interested?
If you are an experienced Financial Planner in or around Taunton and want more than a modest salary increase for performing the same role elsewhere, this opportunity offers something materially different.
You could inherit existing client relationships, benefit from a validation structure designed around the opportunity provided and build a valuable client bank with the backing of an established national wealth management group.
