Financial Adviser – Established Clients,
Location: Derby, Derbyshire
Salary: Up to £70,000 basic, with earning potential of circa £90,000 + share options
If you're an adviser with a few years under your belt and you want more than a job, this is worth a conversation.
We're working with a well-established, owner-managed, independent Chartered financial planning firm based in Derby. A senior adviser is stepping back from the practice and their portfolio is being shared between a new generation of advisers. The firm has a clear long-term plan: grow the advisory team over the next four to five years and give that team the opportunity to buy the senior partners out of the business at a discounted rate.
This role is designed for an adviser who wants to develop, grow a client base and be part of that next generation from the start.
Why this role?
- Clients from day one. You'll take on an allocated share of established clients, each with a minimum of £250,000 under advice, through a structured handover from a senior adviser.
- Room to build your own book. You'll have the capacity and backing to take on new clients and grow your portfolio year on year.
- Equity early in your career. Share options are available, with the opportunity to buy shares at a discounted rate.
- A defined route to ownership. The firm's stated aim is for its advisory team to buy out the senior partners, at a discount, over the next four to five years.
- Strong earning potential. A basic salary of up to £70,000, with realistic total earnings of circa £90,000.
- Development that's taken seriously. A structured Training & Competence framework, supervision and case reviews, and support for your professional development, including working towards Chartered status.
- Truly independent, whole of market. No restricted panel and no in-house funds. You recommend what is right for each client.
- Owner-managed, not corporate. Work alongside and learn from experienced advisers and the decision-makers, with no consolidator targets.
What you'll be doing
- Taking on and developing an allocated portfolio of established private clients as part of a structured handover
- Delivering holistic financial planning across retirement and pensions, investments and tax-aware planning
- Conducting client meetings and ongoing reviews, and building long-term relationships
- Spotting additional planning opportunities within your client bank, always with good client outcomes first
- Winning new clients through referrals, professional introducers, networking and your own connections
- Producing high-quality suitability documentation and keeping accurate, compliant client records
- Working closely with the senior advisers and wider team as the business grows
What you'll bring
- An appropriate FCA-recognised qualification (Level 4 Diploma or equivalent) and a current Statement of Professional Standing
- Experience as a Financial Adviser, ideally with at least two years advising your own clients
- Sound technical knowledge across retirement planning and investments, and a willingness to take on more complex cases
- Strong communication skills and the ability to explain technical matters clearly
- Commercial drive and the confidence to build new client relationships
- High standards of compliance, file quality and professional conduct
- Ambition to progress, work towards Chartered status and become a future owner of the business
All new advisers complete the firm's Training & Competence sign-off before advising independently, with supervision and support throughout.
